Parallel Worlds: Humanity and the Demon Realm
In the world of Devil May Cry, humanity and demons exist in parallel dimensions — separate yet bound by an ancient force. For centuries, a dimensional barrier maintained balance, keeping the chaos of the Demon World sealed away. This fragile equilibrium is now unraveling.
To the public, the supernatural remains a myth. Governments and secretive organizations bury the truth, explaining away bizarre events and demonic activity as natural disasters or terrorism. But behind the veil, the world teeters on the brink of an interdimensional collapse.

The Demon World (Underworld / Hell)
The Demon World — also called Hell or the Underworld — is a brutal, lawless dimension where strength is the only currency. Unlike traditional mythologies, demons in this universe are not fallen souls or spirits, but a separate evolutionary branch from humans. They are ancient, intelligent, and often reflect distorted aspects of human emotion: greed, vengeance, desire, and fear.
Demon society is a hierarchy of predators, with constant infighting and rebellion. Power is the only law — and now that power is slipping into the human world.
The Quantum Rift
Dr. Fischer, a theoretical physicist under government contract, has identified the barrier between worlds as a quantum interference field — a lattice of entangled frequencies that prevents large-scale demonic intrusion. But this field is deteriorating. Lower-level demons have begun leaking into the human world, and soon, the Hell Gate may fully open.
The Sparda Sword, when combined with both amulets, functions as a control system. In scientific terms: the amulets are frequency transmitters, and the sword is the modulator. In mystical terms: they are the key, the lock, and the door.
Key Elements
The Legacy of Sparda
Two thousand years ago, a legendary demon knight named Sparda turned against his own kind to protect humanity. He sealed the portal between worlds and vanished, leaving behind his sword — Force Edge — and two mystical amulets that together act as a dimensional key.
The sword, now known as the Sparda Sword, is not merely a weapon. It's a quantum decoder, capable of reinforcing or collapsing the dimensional barrier depending on how it's used. But to activate it fully, three bloodlines must converge: Sparda's blood, and that of his two sons — Dante and Vergil — as well as their long-lost mother.
Bloodlines and the Hybrid Factor
Dante, the protagonist, is a half-human, half-demon hybrid born of Sparda's union with a mortal woman. This duality makes him unique — a being who exists between worlds. His brother, Vergil, long thought dead, is revealed to be alive, and part of a secret demonic faction known as the Heartbreed.
The full awakening of the Sparda Sword depends on the blood of all three: Sparda, Dante, and Vergil. This prophecy places Dante at the heart of an escalating war — one not just for survival, but for the future shape of reality itself.
Dante
Half-human, half-demon. The protagonist who struggles with his dual nature while fighting to protect humanity.
Vergil
Dante's twin brother, believed dead. Connected to the Heartbreed faction and pursuing his own agenda.
Factions
Dark Realm Command (DarkCom)
DarkCom is a covert, government-sanctioned agency created to monitor and contain supernatural threats. Hidden from the public eye, they employ scientists, demon hunters, and elite operatives to investigate and neutralize rift events.
While originally established as a defense organization, elements within DarkCom — notably Vice President Baines — have grown increasingly radical, aiming to exploit the demonic realm for political and military advantage.
Operation Inferno
After repeated failures to contain demonic incursions, VP Baines publicly reveals the existence of demons, triggering Operation Inferno — a full-scale military mobilization to combat the underworld. But behind the patriotic speeches lies a darker goal: weaponize hell itself.
This announcement fractures alliances and forces once-rival factions — including Dante and former enemies like Mary — to unite against a common threat: the possible collapse of all dimensions.
Key Characters
The White Rabbit
An enigmatic, hyper-intelligent entity resembling a man-sized rabbit in an Easter vest, the White Rabbit is the orchestrator of chaos. He mocks human fear and faith, claiming that 'hell has always been part of humanity's design.' He possesses deep knowledge of interdimensional physics and Sparda's legacy.
Behind the absurd appearance lies a strategic mastermind. Having acquired both amulets and the Sparda Sword, the Rabbit seeks to reshape reality — not just to unleash demons, but to reset the world order. His motivations remain mysterious, though his obsession with Dante hints at a deeper connection.
